Reds - Is:Means

A band with too-brief existence. Just a demo and this great LP. I hear Embrace, Yage and maybe a tiny bit of Moss Icon (although that may be symptomatic of listening to way too much Moss Icon). It seems like they kinda got forgotten around the time the internet decided that emo wasn't cool anymore, but don't let that stop you. Oh yeah, fantastic lyrics on this one too! Not too often that you can say that about, well, almost any record.

Birds & Wires - s/t EP

Brand new post-hardcore from D.C. that acknowledges their Dischord forerunners while borrowing from some of the more recent Richmond bands. It has a cool blown out production that I wasn't sure really fit the style at first but which won me over by the end. Members of Aghast, 1905 and Lotus Fucker for whatever that's worth to you. If you enjoy it, head on over to http://www.amorylucha.org/ and procure yourself a copy.

Assay - Pisschrist LP

I have a great love for '90s German hardcore, so you'll be seeing more as this goes on. Assay had members of Morser, Age and Rusty James and subscribed to the idea that Rites of Spring were a great a band and worth ripping off. So they did, and the result is a somewhat gruffer and heavier take on that sound.
